OMM Clinical Scholars Program
Philadelphia Campus

The PCOM OMM Clinical Scholars program is a unique opportunity for rising third-year osteopathic medical students to spend an extra year, during their clinical clerkships, participating in the teaching and practice of osteopathic manipulative medicine.

PCOM OMM Clinical Scholars have special academic and clinical opportunities beyond those of other students. These include assisting with teaching the M1 and M2 DO students in the OMM lab courses, seeing patients in the OMM office under the supervision of OMM faculty, and participating in OMM CME courses. This involves spending an additional 12 months working with faculty in the OMM Department (4 months each year), which extends the clinical curriculum to 3 years rather than the traditional 2. This valuable experience allows for development of OMM foundational knowledge and skill that serves OMM Clinical Scholars well in residencies and in practice as attending physicians. While the emphasis is on OMM clinical experience and teaching, some scholars also work with OMM research projects.

Applications for the program are usually due in early October, with interviews taking place later in the same month. There are 3 positions available each year.

Clinical Scholars Program benefits include:

  • Remission of tuition
  • Monthly stipend
  • Travel allowance
  • Four months of OMM rotations each year for three years, which includes rotating with OMM faculty, seeing patients (under OMM faculty supervision) and teaching first and second year students.
