PharmD MPH Dual Degree Program
PCOM and Thomas Jefferson University
Enhance your pharmaceutical career options by completing a Master of Public Health
(MPH) degree at Thomas Jefferson University. Students enrolled or who recently graduated
from PCOM Georgia's Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) program may complete the MPH degree fully online or through a mix of virtual and
in-person classes.
A dual degree in public health prepares pharmacists to improve health outcomes for
their patients and in the community. The MPH degree provides instruction in education
and research as well as training in clinical methods with underserved populations.
Pharmacists with an MPH degree take on leadership roles in state and local health
departments, private health organizations and other healthcare settings.
Flexible coursework
- Current PCOM pharmacy students may complete their PharmD and MPH degrees simultaneously
through concurrent enrollment. PCOM PharmD students usually apply during their first
year of pharmacy school for a pre-fall start. Note that the MPH program is flexible
and students may begin the public health program in any term (pre-fall, fall, spring
or summer).
- PharmD graduates may complete their MPH degree coursework either on a part-time or
full-time basis. MPH admissions applications should be received within 3 years of
graduation from PCOM.
Degree requirements
- PharmD/MPH students will be required to take 33 credits of MPH coursework and meet
all program requirements to meet the academic requirements of the MPH degree. These
requirements include the public health field experience and capstone project.
- The MPH program will accept 12 credits of transferred PCOM coursework towards the
MPH.
