PCOM Georgia recently hosted its annual Research Day, uniting students, residents, staff, and
faculty to spotlight innovative and collaborative research endeavors. Ahmad Cader, MS, research officer at PCOM Georgia, hailed this year's event as the
largest to date, featuring 75 poster presentations.
“Research Day at PCOM Georgia is an incredible event that showcases the variety of
research done by students and research faculty from all programs at the College,” Cader said of the event, held May 7. He also noted
the substantial growth of the event in recent years, attributing it to increased student
engagement.
Research Day encompasses research across clinical, laboratory and community domains.
The day commenced with a keynote address by Cristin John Mathew, DO, an orthopedic
surgeon and sports medicine specialist, who delved into “The Evolution of a Revolution:
My Path to the Minimally Invasive Knee Replacement.” Mathew stressed the pivotal role
of research in refining patient care through rigorous inquiry.
Presentations spanned diverse topics, from “A Case Study of a Horseshoe Kidney” to
“Collaborating with Faith-Based Organizations and Municipalities to Increase Hypertension
Awareness.”
Cader emphasized the fundamental role of research in medicine and its profound impact
on patient outcomes. “This event continues to highlight the passion our students have
in their health careers,” he said.
Research Day, held at each of PCOM’s three locations, culminates with awards in various categories. This year’s winners at PCOM Georgia
