Students, alumni and faculty are members of this pharmacy society which represents
those who work in acute and ambulatory care settings.
Georgia Campus – Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (GA-PCOM) was well represented at the Georgia Society of Health-System Pharmacists (GSHP) Committee Day recently in Stockbridge, Georgia. GSHP is a professional society of pharmacists who serve as patient care providers in acute and ambulatory care settings.
Members of the PCOM School of Pharmacy student chapter of GSHP, the alumni class of 2017 and faculty members from the Department of Pharmacy Practice were in attendance. According to Assistant Professor Christopher (Shawn) Holaway, PharmD, RPh, “The contributions and dedication of this body of leaders on the first Saturday of 2019 communicates a passionate desire to deliver optimal patient outcomes.”
The PCOM School of Pharmacy was represented in the following ways:
First and second year student pharmacists including Macy Biddulph (PharmD ’21), Brittney Dang (PharmD ’22), Kinjal Shah (PharmD ’21) and Diana Tran (PharmD ’21) are part of the student and residents committee, as is alumni Eva Karam, PharmD ’17, who works at Northside Hospital as a resident pharmacist practitioner.
Fourth year student pharmacist Michael Cooley (PharmD ’19) and Mary Vo (PharmD ’19) serve on the legislative affairs committee, along with alumni Ibrahim Abba, PharmD ’17, a clinical pharmacist at Loyola University Medical Center department of pharmacy in Maywood, Illinois.
Assistant professors in the Department of Pharmacy Practice Dr. Holaway, Kimberly Barefield, PharmD, MHA, Edo-Abasi McGee, PharmD, BCPS, and Essie Samuel, PharmD, BCPS, attended the meeting. Dr. Holaway has served for seven years on the organization’s educational affairs committee, in addition to serving as the PCOM faculty representative on the GSHP board of directors. GSHP student chapter president Ankita Patel (PharmD ’20) is the student representative to the board. Drs. Barefield and McGee lead the communications council and Dr. Samuel volunteers on the student and residents committee.
Established in 2005, PCOM Georgia is a branch campus of Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM), a private, not-for-profit, accredited institution of higher education with a storied 125-year history dedicated to the healthcare professions.
