Lehigh Valley Health Network (LVHN)'s primary care scholarship program for students
from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM). Up to four selected third-year
PCOM students in one of the eligible programs will receive the scholarship.
- Recipients will receive tuition for years three and four of medical school.
- Recipients will receive book fees.
- This is in exchange for a commitment for two years of full-time employment with Lehigh
Valley Physician Group (LVPG) after successful completion of medical school and residency/fellowship
program.
The LVHN Selection Committee will complete a holistic review of applicants based on:
- Academic achievement, including professionalism
- Commitment to community health
- Connections to the greater Lehigh Valley region
All applicants will be asked to submit their transcript, their Board exam score and

The Board of Trustees Mason W. Pressly and Oscar John Snyder Scholarship is named
in honor of PCOM's founders. The PCOM Board of Trustees has generously funded this
scholarship.
This scholarship will be awarded to first-year students accepted into any PCOM program
with a preference for students of a Hispanic or Latino background. Incoming students
will be considered based on exceptional academic record, strength of interview and
promise of exceptional achievement.

The ALMO Corporation Endowed Scholarship was established in 2016 by Gene Chaiken,
LLD.
The scholarship is used to support an incoming student who will matriculate into any
of PCOM's degree-granting programs and who has demonstrated financial need as defined
by the Office of Financial Aid. The scholarship is designed to help make a PCOM education
possible for a student who would not have otherwise been able to attend. The scholarship
award will be renewable for the selected student until he/she completes all degree

The Polyprobe Endowed Scholarship was established in 1998 during the PCOM Mission
Capital Campaign by Polyprobe, Inc. to foster advanced study in molecular medicine.
Candidates must submit a 1,000 word scientific paper on the following question:
What is your vision of the impact that molecular medicine will have on your future
medical practice?
They also need to include past and current research experience and submit a separate
bibliographical sketch detailing education and work experiences. A letter of recommendation
is optional.
This scholarship is available to all students in good academic standing attending
the Philadelphia campus. Final selection will be based upon recommendations from the
Polyprobe Scholarship committee.
Students must complete the Polyprobe Supplementary Application. The deadline is November 15.

The Michael F. Avallone, Sr., DO '59, Memorial Scholarship was established in 2019,
in memory of Dr. Avallone by his loving family, many of whom followed in Dr. Avallone's
footsteps and became osteopathic physicians. Dr. Avallone was a dedicated leader beginning
with his student days. After opening two practices, Dr. Avallone was one of the first
to offer a "one stop" state of the art medical center in 2003. Known for a keen innovative
ability that benefited every aspect of his life, Dr. Avallone held many leadership
positions in medical organizations helping to shape policy in osteopathic medicine.
So great his influence at the Pennsylvania Osteopathic Medical Association, the organization
named their Opening Session after Dr. Avallone. The PCOM Alumni Association bestowed
their highest honor, the Certificate of Honor, on Dr. Avallone in 2007. The Avallone
family wishes to help deserving students, demonstrating the caring, compassionate
qualities that Dr. Avallone so exemplified.

who was President of Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine from June 1956 until
1974. He was appointed the first chancellor of Philadelphia College of Osteopathic

The fund provides one scholarship in the amount of $7,500 to a second-year DO student

PCOM's three locations each academic year.
Students in this program are from economically disadvantaged backgrounds and show

Each student will receive a guaranteed $2,500 annual scholarship from the PCOM Foundation
