Professional and Career Development

The student affairs offices at PCOM's three locations provide comprehensive career support services designed to assist students in reaching their personal and professional goals.

Developing a career plan is a four year process. First and second year Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) students face the extraordinary challenges associated with adapting to a rigorous curriculum. Our office provides career planning seminars for med students to start the process of thinking about their future beyond medical school.

Career support becomes individualized during the third year. During the fourth year, the student affairs staff provides personalized residency application and interviewing support services.

Our DO graduates earn placements at top medical institutions around the nation.

The Student Affairs departments at the College's locations work closely with students and faculty to provide career planning support. Services include interview prep workshops, CV/resume support, as well as guidance in developing a personalized career development plan.

Specific information relevant to each academic program is available in myPCOM.

The Office of Institutional Advancement offers various professional and financial resources for current PCOM students.

Professional resources

PCOM students have access to alumni mentors and speakers for student club events. Fourth year medical students also have the opportunity to conduct virtual mock residency interviews with alumni from varying specialties.

Events

Our virtual speaker series connects students with PCOM alumni from different programs and specialties to discuss their careers. We also organize networking events and discussion panels.

Financial resources

Financial resources are available to support student activities including travel to attend conferences, research presentations, medical mission trips and community service projects. In addition, the Impact PCOM crowdfunding initiative allows clubs to raise money for student-led projects.
